iPower - Webmail and DNS PDF Print E-mail
Written by Administrator
Monday, 24 March 2008 02:50
So I had to call iPower three times today, my email is still not working at this point. At one point today it was transitioned to the new platform and I got 300 messages from last year. So I'm still waiting to see if its a DNS issue like I was told that it would have to propagate through the system in order to get mail. But with the amount of SPAM that I get I don't think its working. I should have gotten something by now. The other issue is they where going to migrate me to the new servers but when I asked about they MySql issue they said they are having problems with sites running slow so they had to switch me back but since I have subdomians half my pages where on the old server and half on the new.... They need to pay there people a little more and make them in powered to solve issues. We will see what happens at the end of the month.

For the Love of Pearl PDF Print E-mail

So i was thing the other day what would it be like if Gulf oysters did not have Pearl's in them. What if they where empty would the have the same atraction for people? I know they would still taste good and people would still eat them because they are sweet and tasty but would people still search for them? What would happen to all those people that wanted to have pearl necklace would it be the same if oysters had charcoal in them? What would a Gulf oysters charcoal necklace bring in the open market, $100 or less. I don't think it would be the same for anyone. I guess we should all be happy that oysters have pearls. :) It would be interesting if oysters gave diamonds though I think that would be cool to find something like that when you are opening them up. I had an oyster with a pearl in it once and it was fun to find it but the time it takes to wait for a pearl is many years and I have to say that I'm not the most patient person when it come to waiting.

What would you like to find in an oyster, let me know in the comments below.

So last week I had issues with my email, and starting yesterday it is happening again. No email... and to top it all off they have started some kind of scripting that not only is causing issues by changing permissions on the folders but now I'm looked out of of my files if I try to use a FTP program because they have changed the WWW folder to be ready only. So I cant upload files or video's or anything else. I can delete stuff but what good is that. I have to use there vdeck program if I want to upload. But its only one file at a time.

Custom Car Door Magnets PDF Print E-mail

door magnetI have been looking at getting my brother-in-law one of those magnetic car signs. I think he could really use one since he has taken up doing photogray. Some of his pictures are on the site in the gallry section. He has been playing around with photoshop for some time and can edit and restore old photo's as well as change backgrounds and do touch ups. I have been telling him that he needs to start advertising what he can do. I really thing if he stuck a couple of the magnetic car signson his car he could make a little extra money. The prices for these are really cheap even one job would recoup the cost of having 3 of these on your vehicle. Here is a sample of what I think he should get (see picture to the right).

Please leave a comment if you think this is something that would get your attention as your are driving around town. If I can show him that people would call then maybe he will get some and put them on his cars.

I used to go to the Windy City Bar & Grill in Tucson Arizona on Tanque Verde and Wilmot Rd a long time ago when I was hanging out on the #Tucson Channel on IRC. I was at this Bar about every Friday night from 6pm until closing hanging out with friends and playing pool. Well I was there I would try different drinks and one of them was a Jamaican Qualude. I have tried and tried to remember what was in it. All I remember is that it was a layered drink and the recipe is something like this.

Ingredients

Layer drink by pouring each shot slowly over the back side of a teaspoon held just above the liquid level.

                      1 oz. Kahlua®
 1 oz. Bailey's Irish Cream®
 1 oz. Grand Marnier®
 1 oz. Stolichnaya Cristall Vodka®
 1 oz. Frangelico

Glass Type

Cocktail Glass

Bank of America - new policies PDF Print E-mail
Written by Administrator
Wednesday, 19 March 2008 17:21

So I have an issue with Bank of America, I guess I did not read all the paper work that I was sent. They have changed their policies so if any charges are pending on your account and you have a negative balance with those pending charges you will be billed a overdraft fee. I know that sounds a little weird but I talked to 2 agents a supervisor and then Matt Gross at Executive Escalations and that is the new official policy. From what Matt said they sent the notice out back in June of last year and the policy went into effect this week. The two agents did not really know what was going on and the supervisor was a little better.

GRRR… I have to say that I’m not happy with this new policy and I’m really thinking of just spending cash instead of using my debit card with this policy. So if you make a reservation where they authorize your card for a preset amount as a hold then that comes out of your available balance even if they never process the charge. So like Hotels or Car Rentals, before this policy went into effect it would not have made a difference to your available balance now you can get overdraft fee’s and start a cascade affect on your account and owe the bank 100’s of dollars in fees.

Here is a better explination of the above:

"BoA has started charging overdraft fees on pending transaction (not posted transaction) when you go into the negative in your available balance. This will occur even if transaction(s) fall off and you're really not in the negative. "

So I finally got approved for Pay Per Post today. Just to give a brief descritpion of how Pay Per Post works, what you need to do is write up a review of a website or service with links to that site and post it. The reviews can be anywhere from 50 to 200 or more words per post and depending on your page rank (my site has a page rank of zero right now) you get paid either Five Dollars or more depending on your site. I have to say that it took a bit of work to get this blog up and running and configured in such a way for Pay Per Post to let me have blog reviews on my site. I have to say that over all it took about Three Months in order to get approved. From the reviews that I have heard and people that I have talked to Pay Per Post should allow me to cover the cost of my hosting service. It runs about one hundred dollars a year. From the oppertunities that I have seen on there site I should be able to cover that cost and make a little bit more. I will keep you updated on how this service works out for me. It think this might be the start of a great working experiance. blog reviews here I come!!

It's almost BBQ season we need people to come over and help with the food. :)

I have always thought it would be nice to be a chef, my Dad when he retired started cooking and going to restaurants and talking to the chefs there trying to learn how they make certain dishes and what they did in order to come up with the recipes they use. I have looked at culinary schools well as different chef school. I found one culinary school in the Portland area. I need to go over and check them out and see what it would cost to attend.

iPower - Webhosting PDF Print E-mail
Written by Administrator

So I have been using ipower.com for a couple of years now in order to host my site. As of this week I have been having some major issues, my email has been out for a week now and I tried to use FTP to make some changes to my site and that is not working now. The webchat people take forever to get a hold of someone and they can never help you. They just log a ticket and then you have to wait to hear from someone and that take another 24 to 48 hours or more to have the issue fixed. I'm actually starting to debate on switching to another provider. My only concern is that it is going to be a bitch to try and move my site. I'm somewhat good with computers but I have never had to migrate a mysql database. So anyway this is drving me nuts!!
